It all starts with community

The Effinger is a coworking and colearning space in Bern, Switzerland: a self-organized association we co-founded, and our home to this day. Community instead of home office, for ten years now.

There we see every day what happens when young entrepreneurs, craftspeople, and world-changers share their work: people learn from each other, almost in passing. It takes a village.

Learning and working belong together

Out of that everyday life grew a framework: colearning. Learning in the middle of real work, with real people: watch, pitch in, do it yourself, pass it on.

We call it the seriousness of play: real assignments, real risk, and the permission to fail and start again. There is structure too, but as a handrail, not a curriculum.

Colearning Basecamp

An entrepreneurial education

The Colearning Basecamp is for 15 to 25 year olds who want neither gymnasium nor apprenticeship: real learning ventures with real customers, out in the world, close to working adults. The young people themselves sit in the driving seat.

Making learning visible

Paths like these grow skills that fit into no report card. That is why we build Lilo: the page where your learning and your exciting projects leave a trail. Notes, posts, and badges, publicly evidenced and endorsed by people.

If you can show what you do, you are freer: in a job search, for the next project, at a fresh start. That holds in the Basecamp, in an apprenticeship, at university, and on the job. For life.

We are the village behind it

YOLU is the small company behind Lilo, the Basecamp, and a lot of colearning work: education, multimedia, digital. We build places where people work and grow.
